Business Need

To support institutional goals around research excellence by creating a communications strategy to promote a major faculty award announcement. The objective was to highlight the impact of the research in a way that would resonate with multiple audiences — including academics, media, prospective students, and donors — while ensuring consistency across digital channels.

Approach

I led a strategic, brand-aligned communications approach that outlined clear goals, audiences, messaging and success metrics to support a high-impact award announcement. Through ongoing stakeholder collaboration and consistent use of SFU’s new brand narrative, I ensured a cohesive campaign that elevated the university’s research profile.

Outcome

The campaign saw a 20% increase in engagement compared to previous years that was driven by a clear strategy and stakeholder collaboration. Additionally, by humanizing complex research through accessible language and engaging visuals, the campaign broadened its reach beyond academic audiences.
